In which areas will you outperform?

Our client is implementing a data management model across its various departments.

Within the framework of a new programme, whose objective is the implementation of SAP S/4Hana, it is necessary to apply the principles of data management in the modelled business flows, including in the framework of data migration. This is the role of the data referent.

Project process:

  • The referent takes possession of the model and governance built by the data management department.
  • He/she reports functionally to the head of the data service for these aspects while reporting hierarchically to the project manager.
  • Under the responsibility of the Data & Migration project manager, he/she will evangelise data practices to the various projects in the programme.
  • He/she will be the reference person for all data issues on the programme. He/she will write the data strategy for the programme and ensure its execution.
  • His role will be to coordinate a series of activities between the data department, the data owners (business), the CISO, the DPO, the functional analysts of NEO projects and the migration team.

The activities to be coordinated are mainly :

  • Data classification in the architectural model: processing catalogues, mapping, transformation, etc.
  • Description and classification of data through the business glossary
  • Data quality analysis, profiling of data to be migrated (defining the necessary reporting), definition of data quality rules, definition of cleansing needs
  • Analysis of needs in terms of setting up specific rules for security, confidentiality, RGPD, analytics, archiving and retention
  • Coordination and monitoring of the data cleansing process in collaboration with the data quality manager
  • The needs are expressed by both the projects and the business, as well as the architecture.
  • The data referent will ensure that each need is visible and addressed.
  • In addition to coordinating, the data referent can challenge the various needs and the response given to them.
  • He or she must also proactively propose actions that will contribute to the data objectives.
