The University of Antwerp’s  Department of Medical Genetics is looking for a full-time full-stack web developer to join our inter-university team. In collaboration with  KULeuven, our team develops WiNGS, an innovative federated platform for secure interpretation of genomics data.
 

Position

The position includes the following tasks:

  • You are responsible for the implementation, maintenance and documentation of the WiNGS platform.
  • You design, and make deciscions on the future direction of the project, in close collaboration with both co-developers and end-users.
  • You provide training to familiarize end-users with the platform.

In your role, you take instructions and regulations into account with a view to achieving predefined objectives.
 

Profile

  • You have a professional Bachelor in computer science or bio-informatics or equivalent competences gained through prior work experience.
  • You have an extensive knowledge of python, Django and/or Supabase
  • You have an extensive knowledge of SQL, preferably PostgreSQL and/or MSSQL.
  • You have experience with Linux environments
  • Experience with the development of RESTful web-services is an advantage
  • You have good oral and written knowledge of English.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You have strong skills in planning and organisation.
     

What we offer

  • We offer a temporary contract for a period of 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.
  • You will receive a gross monthly salary within pay band 4.1-6.1 of the pay scales of the Administrative and Technical Staff. Your entry-level grade, usually grade 4,  depends on your relevant professional experience. If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.
  • You will receive meal vouchers, ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • We offer flexible working hours.
  • You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
  • You will do most of your work at the Center of Medical Genetics, Prins Boudewijnlaan 43, Edegem, in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
