Test (Automation) Engineer

As a Test Engineer, you are responsible for designing and implementing test procedures to ensure that software programmes work as intended. It's your responsibility to ensure that software meets specifications and requirements before being released to the public. You tweak the software testing systems for maximum performance.

 

Further responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with development managers to discuss software specifications and controls
  • Analysing the software's functional properties
  • Designing manual and automated test procedures to evaluate each software product
  • Building, coding and implementing software evaluation test programmes
  • Running test programmes to ensure that the protocols evaluate the software correctly
  • Finalising and documenting test procedures
  • Completing final tests and creating test reports
  • Presenting test reports to management and suggesting software fixes

 

As you're meeting with various stakeholders, good communication skills are key. You need a strong attention to detail and excellent software troubleshooting skills. You know how to collate data and compile test reports, and you can design and write complex software testing procedures.

Furthermore, you can demonstrate:

  • Experience working with popular operating systems, including Windows and Linux
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a similar field
  • Work experience as a software test engineer
  • In-depth knowledge of program testing software (Bugzilla, HP LoadRunner, JMeter, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of debugging codes and software development languages
  • Knowledge of databases/SQL
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium
  • Fluency in English
