Systems Engineer Young Graduate

Do you know our banking app has been named the best in the world? Or that we have ‘Kate’, a digital personal assistant at the cutting edge of AI tech? Perhaps you’re aware there’s a KBC coin on its way, programmable money on the blockchain? At KBC IT, the era of suits and ties is long behind us; we have a real, dynamic start-up mentality. As our System Engineer, you’ll work with more than 1500 like-minded professionals on the solutions of tomorrow.

We are quick to react. We are flexible. And we are focused on achieving the best results. There is space for new ideas that ensure we keep innovating. Always with the latest technology. KBC is big, but not unwieldy.

Are you ready for the challenge of combining innovation with 100% uptime? It is always interesting. One day, you design plans for the future. The next day, you pull on your rubber boots, roll up your sleeves and tackle urgent or complex problems.

Would you like to know more about KBC ICT Infrastructure?

In our data centres in Belgium, Hungary and the cloud, we host the critical applications that support our banking and insurance activities by registering millions of transactions at light speed every day. We do this on our own mainframe, on our own extensive private cloud and in the public cloud (AWS, Azure), on various standard platforms (Windows, Linux and IBM z/OS) as well as cloud-native technologies (such as Hadoop, Kubernetes, Docker or others).

Furthermore, it is our day-to-day responsibility to assure the availability and manageability of our data-centre infrastructure (network, compute & storage for all our solutions). In a world that is flooded with security incidents and cyberthreats, our specialists are a guarantee for security and the proactive protection of our clients. There are plenty of possibilities in our team. It’s up to you to choose where you want to grow!

Depending on your interests, you’ll join a team of fifteen experts who commit themselves to a specific business unit or a specific technical domain. A number of our teams work internationally with other teams and different clients within the KBC Group. What appeals to you the most?

What are your tasks?

  • You set up new servers, do system or software upgrades or install new applications, taking care of the operational management of our environment.
  • You prevent problems related to system management. You may, for example, make backups or create extra capacity.
  • You automate anything that can be automated. Wave goodbye to repetitive tasks!
  • You dive into the details of an incident to find out exactly what the problem is and start working on a solution. You’re an expert at avoiding incidents and ensuring we have zero downtime.
  • You take the lead on building new solutions and improving existing solutions.
  • You and your colleagues think about new evolutions in the market and how to use them to create added value for our business.
  • You experiment with new products and determine whether they’re able to be used at KBC. If so, you pursue their implementation.

Are these your strengths?

  • You’re happy to go exploring and finding ways to involve other people in new stories. Automating a repetitive job, immersing yourself in new material, brainstorming with your colleagues about different ways of doing things, testing out a new technology ... • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT. You’re looking forward to improving your knowledge of Cloud, Mainframe, Hadoop, Kubernetes and Docker.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team. Smooth communication is an important aspect of this, therefore it’s important that you are fluent in Dutch and English.
  • It helps if you’re familiar with agile values and principles, but that’s not a necessity. You’ll soon find out how we apply them.
