The AXA Partners IT Business Analyst contributes to the specification, testing and/or implementation of systems solutions in order to meet business requirements by acting as a direct liaison between the IT and operational organisations.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

 

- Determine needs and the highest level of system requirements of users, Technical Management, and other stakeholders by liaising directly with requestors / process owners to translate and prioritize requirements for Application functional enhancements and Challenge business requests to ensure relevance to business objectives and priorities.
- Negotiate and agree scope and time scales with the business users and IT to achieve best possible match between operational needs and IT capability and take end to end ownership of this delivery. 
- Translate high-level business requirements into detailed requirements and detailed functional specifications and specify components of solutions to support the delivery of user requirements right first time.  
- Complete required documentation to highest standard and in line with complete Change/Project process. Responsible for maintaining documentation current and up to date. Document changes to systems and produce documentation for new solutions.
- Manage requests for changes to these specifications through formal change control
- Assist the business in determining which business requirements can and should be automated and how they are then integrated with other business and technical processes
- Provide support for the implementation of new/changed systems to ensure outputs are delivered to time and quality
- Investigate and resolve user problems channelled via Helpdesk or equivalent to minimise disruption to Business activity. 
- Facilitate the Application Change Planning & Service Planning Process
- Complete required documentation to highest standard and in line with complete Change/Project process.
- Ensure that personal and team targets are delivered to meet the business requirements.
- Facilitate review meetings and ensure best practice is applied
- Drive continued process enhancements and efficiencies to help meet productivity targets
- Coach and mentor other members of the team
- Demonstrate leadership by bringing in or implementing new / creative ideas on requirements gathering and solution design processes
- Where required, take on stretch responsibility by stepping up and acting as a project manager 
- Maintain peer relationships across IT areas to support effective implementations, focussing on the functional area assigned
- Maintain functional peer relationships and detailed working knowledge of the assigned area's systems, organisation and business processes
- Pro-actively share technical knowledge, expertise and advice with colleagues, providing knowledge transfer to IT groups
- Define, maintain and demonstrate a strong Business Technology knowledge about our IT systems, organisation and business processes

Technical/ Functional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Required:
•    7+years experience in a business analyst role
•    Broad understanding of business, business technology and business applications
•    3rd level qualification in relevant discipline such as Computer Science or Information Technology
•    Knowledge of insurance business model and processes
•    Foundational knowledge across our policies, processes and business model
•    Project Management experience or a minimum of awareness of Project Management methodologies
•    Previous experience with facilitation and leading cross functional review meetings. 

Desired
•    Salesforce Administration Certification 
•    UX Design experience
•    Considerable experience in business analysis in a financial services environment
•    Good knowledge of insurance business model and processes
•    Proven analytical skills in an actuarial environment 
•    Actuarial/Insurance certification 
•    Knowledge of/ Member of IIBA institute 
•    Knowledge of waterfall or agile methodologies
•    Experience with Project Management
•    Communication – Ability to liaise with various functions and interact and communicate with individuals at all levels and ensure thorough understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
•    Customer Focus – Ability to understand and meet end user needs whilst also ensuring solid sustainable IT solutions.
•    Leadership and Influence – Ability to take control of meetings and influence colleagues both within IT and other functions to agree on timescales and solutions that meet both end user requirements and business needs
•    Results-Oriented – Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple projects.
•    Collaboration – Ability to establish solid partnership with IT teams and other functions to work effectively as a business analyst.  

Technical / Job-Specific 
•    Strong negotiation skills: ability to find win – win solutions for both IT and business as well as ability to challenge status quo and ensure best possible long term solution
•    Strong presentation and facilitation skills: ability to manage and coordinate meetings with different departments. To be able to explain and present complex IT concepts to end users in a coherent and simple manner.  
•    Strong communication skills: 
•    Strong Analytical Skills: ability to understand and analyse business requirements and needs of the business whilst also translating these needs and requirements into IT solutions.
•    Strong Time Management, organisational and prioritisation skills: Ability to manage different tasks and multiple projects 
•    Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivery of customer requirements
•    Accountability: taking initiative and ownership to ensure delivery and actively seeking results and resolutions to meet needs
